Job summary

Pelican Energy Consultants in Covington, LA is seeking a Mid-Senior Level Procurement Agent. You will perform purchasing functions, work with project managers, and manage small projects while learning products and vendor reps.

Responsibilities include creating purchase orders, soliciting bids, evaluating suppliers on price, quality, and reliability, and maintaining records of costs, deliveries, and inventories to keep projects on track.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED required.
• 2-7+ years of experience in procurement or similar role.
• Experience in Oil and Gas, Energy, or Engineering industries preferred.
• Proficiency with procurement processes and vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Work with project managers on procurement of materials to meet client’s needs at best price, quality, and availability.
• Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods.
• Interview vendor sales reps to keep up with current vendors and suppliers.
• Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
• Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or corrective action.
• Update Costs Tracking and Pro Tracking forms for each project to inform Project manager where Project Costs and Materials are at all times.
• Maintain and review electronic records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, and inventories.
• Conduct document control tasks, including the distribution of incoming/outgoing documents.
• Maintain incoming and outgoing Logs of documents.
• Keep a focus on "Best for Client," "Best for Project," and "Best for Company" (in that order) decisions during project execution.
