Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Direct Materials Procurement professional to lead the New Product Introduction sourcing, market analyses, and supplier negotiations.

You will collaborate with Legal, Finance, Procure-to-Pay and external suppliers to ensure cost-effective, compliant supply, with a focus on risk management and supplier performance. This role requires a Master’s degree and 2+ years of pharmaceutical experience, plus strong data analytics and MS Office proficiency.

Direct Materials Procurement – New Product Introduction

General Responsibilities:

• Collect and present market trends, competitive environment, and industry best practices to assist sourcing strategy.
• Collaborate with key functions to execute the overall sourcing strategy across modalities until launch + 2 years.
• Support procurement objectives: product sourcing, supply risk management, supplier performance improvement, cost reduction, supplier development, working capital improvement, and supplier relationship management.
• Work cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Procure-to-Pay, internal stakeholders, and external suppliers.
• Conduct detailed market analyses to provide deep, meaningful insights.
• Implement procurement strategies and execute tactical procurement processes; serve as a resource on procurement processes/systems.
• Support supplier selection; ensure legal contract requirements are met; manage supplier relationships.
• Enforce Global Procurement policy compliance using a data-driven business case approach.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Supplier and supply market analysis.
• Cost modeling/cost reduction (may include supplier visits).
• Strategic analysis (e.g., portfolio analysis, supplier preferencing, day-one sourcing).
• Financial analysis/reporting (category spend, savings, compliance, metrics; maintain reporting systems including SAP).
• Negotiation planning (pre-negotiation plans, negotiation support, post-debriefs/follow-through).
• Sourcing via RFIs, RFPs, and e-auctions.
• Risk assessment and mitigation (e.g., solvency analysis, FCPA/compliance).
• Category team membership and sharing learnings within GSMG.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Supply Chain, or Procurement.
• 2+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience.
• Strong verbal/written communication; ability to present clearly and work across organizational levels.
• Ability to influence external partners.
• Advanced data collection/management/analytics/reporting skills.
• Excellent project management; independent work with flexibility in ambiguous situations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Preferred:

• Prior pharmaceutical or Fortune 500 experience.
• Cost modeling experience.
• Experience with MS Teams/SharePoint; PowerBI or similar tools; Excel for large datasets; managing external relationships; data collection methods.
