Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to drive sourcing and supplier relationships across the organization. You will lead complex projects, negotiate favorable contracts, and build partnerships that enhance value, quality, and supply reliability while aligning with business goals.

The role requires evaluating supplier capabilities, managing multi-category initiatives, and guiding junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Procurement, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of procurement, sourcing, purchasing, supply chain, or related business experience.
  • Experience identifying, evaluating, and managing supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating contracts, pricing, and commercial agreements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex procurement initiatives independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet organizational requirements for quality, cost, delivery, and service.
  • Lead sourcing activities and procurement projects for complex or high-impact categories.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements to achieve favorable commercial outcomes.
  • Assess supplier capabilities, products, and services to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Analyze supplier proposals, bids, and promotional opportunities to maximize cost savings and value.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and reliability metrics.
  • Develop innovative sourcing strategies and recommend solutions for complex procurement challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support purchasing needs and business objectives.
  • Manage supplier relationships and resolve issues related to service, quality, or delivery performance.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to less experienced procurement team members as needed.

The Opportunity

Abbott is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to support the sourcing and procurement of critical goods and services that enable business operations across the organization. In this role, you will lead complex purchasing initiatives, negotiate supplier agreements, and build strategic partnerships that drive value, quality, and supply reliability while supporting business objectives.

What You’ll Work On

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large-scale or high-value procurement categories.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies and supplier performance management.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing, healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar industry.
  • Professional procurement certification such as CPSM, CPPB, or equivalent.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching junior procurement professionals.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence business partners across functions.
