OVERVIEW
The Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for executing complex procurement functions with direction from the Procurement Manager. Duties to include (but are not limited to) RFQ/RFP creation and solicitation, RFI management, quote/proposal review, executing purchase orders, vendor relationship management, and other duties as assigned.
The Senior Procurement Specialist will conduct business in accordance with Cajun Industries' Best Practices and Code of Ethics and be an active participant in the continuous development of the safety culture at Cajun Industries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class; however, are not all inclusive for this position:
- Builds and maintains a working relationship with vendors to obtain competitive pricing
- Works with Estimating and Projects teams to build requisitions, solicit quotes, review proposals, and execute orders
- Ability to take an RFQ/RFP package through all stages of the procurement process ending in the execution of a purchase order
- Expedites vendor quotes
- Negotiate the first pass on Terms and Conditions for standard purchase orders, prior to execution, with review and support from the Procurement Manager
- Answers RFIs in a timely manner
- Identify cost saving opportunities and work with the procurement strategy to reduce costs without compromising quality or delivery schedule
- Maintains record of quotes, purchase orders, and applicable procurement logs
- Resolve and approve vendor invoices as assigned
- Reviews expediting reports with Expeditors to ensure orders are on time and reports any delays to the appropriate stakeholders
- Supports Procurement Specialists in their job duties as needed
- Mentors Procurement Specialists in learning the duties of a Sr. Procurement Specialist
- Attends and participates in meetings as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Minimum of seven years of relevant experience in Procurement required with four years of experience in an Industrial construction company and/or engineering firm
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Education:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited college/university is preferred
Physical:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:
- Move throughout active construction and project site environments, including areas with uneven terrain, mud, gravel, sand, and other varying surface conditions.
- Position themselves to inspect work, access materials, equipment, structures, and work areas at ground level, overhead, and in restricted-access locations.
- Ascend and descend stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated work surfaces while maintaining safety requirements.
- Frequently handle, operate, and use hand tools, power tools, equipment, instruments, and materials associated with assigned job duties.
- Frequently move, transport, position, push, pull, lift, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance or mechanical devices where available.
- Frequently communicate and exchange information with crew members, supervisors, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others in field and office settings.
- Understand information presented through written, electronic, verbal, visual, and environmental sources to support safe and effective job performance.
- Work in a variety of environments, including outdoor settings exposed to heat, cold, rain, humidity, wind, noise, dust, and other weather or site-related conditions.
- Work in confined spaces, restricted access areas, or elevated locations when required by project needs and in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
- Perform work activities ranging from sedentary to heavy physical exertion depending on project assignment and operational needs.
