Job summary

DFAS seeks an experienced Senior Acquisition professional to serve as the SME on special projects, providing guidance to senior management and contracting officers. The role includes policy development, training, and oversight of a procurement-analyst staff.

The incumbent will lead in complex, high-stakes contracting initiatives, ensuring adherence to regulations and organizational goals. Telework is limited and security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited educational institution.
• Attach a copy of the highest DAWIA certification in contracting which you currently hold.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13 for the GS-14) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the senior acquisition subject matter expert on special projects such as agency contracting Ombudsman. Provides technical advice to senior management and contracting officers within the agency.
• Reviews, interprets, develops, and establishes policies, procedures, and acquisition instructions for assigned area of the agency acquisition mission.
• Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) in the development and approval of policy and systems as a member of special studies or task groups with the agency.
• The incumbent has complete supervisory authority over a staff of procurement analysts.
• Incumbent is responsible for training, developing their subordinates, and ensuring they are performing at the highest professional levels. On the most complex or controversial issues, acts as a consultant for the responsible subordinates.
