Job summary

Yates Construction in Birmingham, AL seeks a Buyer/Expeditor to support tenders and awarded projects by managing procurement for minor equipment and bulk materials. You will handle RFQs, bid clarifications, commercial evaluations, and purchase orders to meet cost and schedule targets.

Responsibilities include negotiating with suppliers, maintaining commercial terms, and expediting delivery through to final payment and close out, while coordinating with engineering and supply chain teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, supply chain or related field.
• Five+ years in a similar buyer/expeditor role with procurement experience.
• Experience with supplier qualifications and contract terms.

Responsibilities

• Manages procurement for minor equipment and bulks packages across tenders and projects.
• Issues RFQs, evaluates bids, negotiates price and terms with suppliers.
• Produces and manages purchase orders via the Yates system.
• Expedites supplier performance to meet cost, schedule, and quality targets.
• Interface with engineering for scope of work and supplier documentation.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain Management on payments and close-out.
