Job summary

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is seeking a Senior Buyer to conduct procurement for materials, equipment, supplies, and services for the Tribal government. Flexibility, a can-do attitude, and initiative to drive change within the Purchasing Division are essential for success.

The role involves developing solicitations, evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships while ensuring compliance with Tribal purchasing policies.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in accounting or business administration.
• 3 to 5 years of senior-level acquisition experience.
• Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations for municipal activities.
• Proficient Excel skills and familiarity with MS Office.
• Ability to prepare specs, analyze bids and manage contracting processes.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the tribe's mission and values in procurement work.
• Develop and advertise solicitations for products and services required by the Tribe.
• Handle vendor inquiries and provide contract language clarifications.
• Review purchasing policies and propose beneficial changes.
• Train staff on purchasing policies and procedures.
• Conduct bid openings and facilitate vendor evaluations.
• Negotiate effective supply agreements that protect tribal interests.
• Issue purchase orders and manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery.
