Job summary

PacifiCorp in Portland, Oregon seeks a senior transactional/commercial attorney to provide primary legal support on procurement contracts and a broad range of agreements, while advising operations and regulatory teams on strategy and compliance.

The position can be based in Portland or Salt Lake City, is 100% onsite, and offers a competitive compensation package with a discretionary annual bonus up to 20% of salary and a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and bar exam eligibility in one or more states where PacifiCorp operates.
• Minimum of five years' experience as a transactional/commercial attorney.
• Extensive experience with legal/regulatory issues for electric utilities.
• Ability to negotiate and influence peers and senior leaders on policy and strategy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn new areas of law.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws applicable to energy utilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary legal support on procurement contracts and related agreements.
• Advise operating units with legal counsel and direction.
• Ensure compliance with laws and PacifiCorp tariffs.
• Assess and mitigate legal risks; advise management.
• Develop policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
• Stay current on energy industry legal trends and best practices.
• Support state regulatory matters and represent the company in hearings.
• Consult with and manage outside counsel.
