Job summary

Genesis AEC is seeking a Senior Process Utility Engineer to design and optimize essential utility systems for pharmaceutical projects. The role includes preparing deliverables, pipe design, and contract documents, while ensuring compliance with cGMP and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • 10+ years designing/process utility systems in Pharma/Biotech/Healthcare.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations and standards; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project deliverables and contract documents, including calculations, pipe design, and drawings.
  • Develop system designs per code requirements and client standards.
  • Survey existing piping and field conditions to support design.
  • Oversee contract documents (redline/print floor plans, P&IDs) and prepare system URS and lists.
  • Oversee junior staff and provide leadership; attend project meetings.
  • Construction administration (RFI responses, review shop drawings).

SENIOR PROCESS UTILITY ENGINEER (Clean Utilities) Genesis is seeking an experienced Senior Process Utility Engineer to play a vital role in designing and optimizing essential utility systems that support groundbreaking scientific advancements. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As a Sr. Process Utility Engineer, you will prepare project deliverables and contract documents, including calculations, pipe design, and drawings. Utilize your knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards for the pharmaceutical industry to develop system designs. Survey existing piping systems and examine field conditions as required to support the development and completion of projects. In-depth knowledge of general building construction for piping systems is essential. A typical day may include:

  • Review project scope and obtain deliverables and due dates.
  • Review building codes, client standards, and industry guidelines.
  • Review equipment lists for relevant process utility design requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations.
  • Oversee the preparation of contract documents (redline/produce floor plans, details, and P&IDs)
  • Prepare system specifications.
  • Develop system URS’s, component lists, valve lists, line lists, etc.
  • Oversee junior staff and provide leadership and guidance.
  • Construction administration (Answering RFIs, review of shop drawings).
  • Attend project meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or related engineering degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design and engineering of process utility systems in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Healthcare industries, with additional expertise in purified water, water for injection, clean steam, compressed air, compressed gases, vacuum, cryogenic liquids, neutralization systems, and effluent decontamination systems.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP regulations and standards is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize multiple projects, and adjust work against tight deadlines.

Physical Demands: The physical demands of this job include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting while working on a laptop/computer.
  • Occasional site visits, requiring mobility.
  • Must be able to move a ladder and lift to 25 pounds at times. May need to climb a ladder up to 8'.
  • Some local travel in the tri-state area, up to 5-10%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT or PE registration is a plus, but not required
  • PipeFlo experience is a plus.
