Job summary

MSD in Rahway, NJ is seeking a Chemical Engineer for hands-on process development and scale-up from lab to manufacturing scales. You will design experiments, ensure cGMP/GDocP compliance, and communicate across teams while traveling about 10–15% to support external suppliers and pilot plants.

Eligible candidates hold a BS/MS or PhD in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience; strong writing, organizational and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• For BS/MS candidates, at least 5 years of relevant work experience post‑graduation.
• Experience performing lab‑based research/process development in a chemical engineering‑related area.
• Experience with process scale‑up and/or technology transfer, moving from laboratory to pilot plant or production scale.
• Highly effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Good organizational, interpersonal, writing, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, design, plan, and implement advanced experiments for process development, technology development, and production of APIs.
• Discuss technical problems, support pilot plant operations, and interface with cross‑functional colleagues/customers.
• Possibly manage process development and/or manufacturing activities at external suppliers.
• Maintain safety and quality compliance (cGMPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDocP).
• Travel approximately 10%–15%.
