Job summary

Covestro in Baytown, TX is seeking a Pressure Safety Engineer IV to lead the design and optimization of emergency relief systems and support safety analyses across NAFTA operations.

The role requires deep understanding of PFD/P&ID, process safety standards (ASME/API), and collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement practical safety solutions. Travel willingness is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or similar engineering with 4+ years of experience or Master’s degree in chemical or similar engineering with 2+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Designs and evaluates emergency relief systems for the NAFTA region, including pressure safety valves and venting systems.
• Supports documentation of site and regional pressure safety policies, standards, procedures, training, and execution.
• Participates in Management of Change (MOC) and delivers solutions to pressure safety-related concerns.
• Supports day-to-day BU operations impacted by emergency relief systems.
• Assists in PHA and TAR activities.
• Proposes improvements in the efficiency of pressure safety work processes.
• Participates in HSE service initiatives and represents the HSE organization on site.
• Actively involved in industrial organizations such as AIChE (DIERS), ASME, API, or others.
