Job summary

Westlake Chemical Corporation in Plaquemine, LA seeks a Process Safety Management leader to coordinate the company’s PSM and Risk Management programs, develop corporate level procedures, and assist management with safety initiatives aligned to Westlake’s goals.

You will evaluate site performance, lead improvements, manage PSM and RMP audits, provide training, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations while partnering with teams across the site to advance HSE objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Engineering preferred.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years site or division level experience in chemicals manufacturing; previous PSM experience preferred; Background should include industrial safety, process safety management, and safety auditing experience.
• Strong facilitation, interpersonal and computer skills, with a good working knowledge of related databases and applications, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Capable of managing multiple projects

• Able to work in a team-oriented environment

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.
• Participates in the PACE culture of safety.
• Evaluate site performance and lead performance improvements
• Monitor and revise the site’s Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Programs to meet or exceed all OSHA, EPA, and DEQ requirements and improve site processes.
• Manage PSM, RMP and Insurance audit programs for the Plaquemine facility.
• Ensure that management systems are in place to accomplish strategic plan goals associated with HSE.
• Develop and provide training for compliance and improvement in the areas associated with PSM.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on regulatory compliance.
• Continually evaluate regulatory, community and employee “customers” to ensure that their requirements (or needs) are addressed.
