Overview

Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This is a great opportunity to work for an environmentally focused engineering consulting firm. The successful candidate will work on various water/wastewater projects for private sector clients in multiple market sectors. We offer a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to develop innovative, cost-effective designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits.

Remote work allowed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering work with the Process Mechanical Design Discipline team on water and wastewater projects including pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants for municipal and private industrial clients.
  • Work with teams on engineering designs, preparing reports, construction drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment selection for various projects.
  • Analysis and design of pipeline hydraulics for both open channel and closed conduits.
  • Preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables.
  • Studies, permitting and alternatives analysis.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspections as part of engineering services during construction.
  • Conduct field work, such as site investigations, as necessary for various projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (Engineers, Designers).
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Coordinate project work with geotechnical, architectural, process, civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical engineers and consultants.
  • Contribute to company standard detail and specification development and updates.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of process mechanical design experience related to water and/or wastewater treatment (pumps, filters, clarifiers, membranes, digesters, etc.).
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and verbally.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Professional engineer’s license, or on track to obtain it within 12 months.
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 15+ years of process mechanical design experience related to water and/or wastewater treatment (pumps, filters, clarifiers, membranes, digesters, etc.).
  • Experience with BIM 360 and Bluebeam is desired.
  • Experience with Navisworks 2013 (or newer) software a plus.
  • Experience using engineering calculation software (AFT Arrow) is a plus.
  • Field/construction experience a plus.
Salary Range

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $118,000 - $161,000

Location B: $130,000 - $177,000

Location C: $142,000 - $194,000
