We are seeking a Senior Process Integration Engineer specializing in III-V compound semiconductor processing, with a focus on advanced photonic and electronic device integration. This role will drive the development, optimization, and transfer of monolithic and hybrid integration schemes for next-generation optoelectronic devices, playing a pivotal part in both R&D and high-volume manufacturing environments. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, external partners, and supply chain stakeholders to ensure robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions for photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and related electronic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimization of process flows for III-V compound semiconductor devices, including lasers, modulators, photodetectors, and integrated photonic/electronic circuits.
- Oversee process setup, and fabrication readiness for both pilot and high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Design, implement, and refine monolithic and hybrid integration schemes, enabling seamless coupling of III-V materials with silicon and other photonic/electronic platforms.
- Manage co-development and technology transfer of novel integration processes to external partner facilities, ensuring alignment with product specifications and manufacturability targets.
- Analyze process and device data to drive yield, reliability, and performance improvements, including root cause analysis of process deviations and test failures.
- Collaborate with device design, process engineering, and operations teams to resolve technical challenges and optimize end-to-end process integration.
- Establish and maintain process control specifications, monitor process capability (CPK), and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, and progress reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Support next-generation platform development, from prototyping through qualification and ramp to production.
- Stay abreast of emerging integration technologies, materials, and industry trends in photonics and electronics.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related field, with significant experience in III-V compound semiconductor processing.
- Proven expertise in photonic and electronic device fabrication, including hands-on experience with InP, GaAs, or related III-V materials.
- Deep understanding of monolithic and hybrid (heterogeneous) integration techniques for photonic and electronic devices, including wafer bonding, micro-transfer printing, and advanced packaging methods.
- Strong background in process integration, yield engineering, and reliability assessment for optoelectronic devices.
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing, technology transfer, and supplier management is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical process control, and failure analysis methodologies.
- Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with silicon photonics platforms and the integration of III-V devices onto silicon substrates.
- Familiarity with device physics, optical/electrical test methods, and process simulation tools.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for photonic integrated circuits and electronic-photonic co-design.
- Ability to travel as needed to support technology transfer and partner site activities.
This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of integrated photonics and electronics, contributing to cutting-edge solutions for data communications, sensing, and beyond.
