Job summary

HPS Tech is seeking a senior project engineer to oversee end-to-end capital value projects in dairy and hygienic processing from pre-sales through commissioning and handover. You’ll lead design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, and manage the on-site customer relationship in California.

You'll direct and mentor graduate engineers, apply strong technical judgement, and build client networks to win future projects.

Qualifications

• Hands-on process engineering experience in dairy or comparable hygienic environments.
• Experience leading capital or installation projects from concept through handover.
• Relevant engineering degree in process/biochemical/mechanical/chemical/food or electrical disciplines.
• Working knowledge of hygienic standards and CIP design is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design through commissioning and handover, including procurement and construction.
• Maintain the customer relationship as the on-site face of HPS Tech.
• Direct and mentor graduate engineers on project delivery.
• Apply technical judgement to solve field challenges and ensure project success.
• Develop and grow the pipeline by building strong client networks.

This newly created role oversees significant capital value projects from pre-sales through commissioning and handover, at the centre of HPS's growing US pipeline and European expansion.

The role

You’ll lead complex, high-value projects from design through commissioning and handover - procurement, construction, the customer relationship, and the engineering judgement calls in between. Graduate engineers support you, leadership backs you, and you're accountable for the system running on handover day.

• Lead project delivery across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover
• Own the customer relationship throughout - you're the face of HPS on the job
• Direct and develop graduate engineers working alongside you
• Apply technical judgement to solve problems in the field
• Build the customer relationships that bring the next project through the door

What you’ll bring

• Deep, hands-on process engineering experience in dairy or a comparably hygienic environment - where hygiene and food safety standards are non-negotiable
• Experience leading complex capital or installation projects from concept through commissioning and handover
• Degree in process, biochemical, mechanical, chemical, food, or electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline - technical depth and field experience matter more than the discipline
• Working knowledge of CIP design, hygienic process standards, and food safety requirements
• Comfortable in direct customer-facing situations - plant operators, site engineers, and business owners are your audience
• Right to work in the United States
