Job summary

Sanmina Corporation is seeking a Process Engineer for transformer manufacturing to optimize production of distribution transformers, MV switchgear, and instrument transformers. The role requires hands-on problem solving to improve efficiency and maintain high quality.

Responsibilities include capacity planning, BOM management, PFMEA and SOP development, training operators, and collaborating with QA to ensure compliance with IEEE/IEC/ANSI standards; CAD/ERP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering is required.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in heavy manufacturing.
• Experience with CAD (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling preferred.
• Experience with lean manufacturing tools (5S, etc.) required.
• Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, or ANSI standards preferred.
• Familiar with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and CAD software preferred.
• Familiarity with electrical testing protocols (Impulse test, Ratio test, Hi pot) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Capacity Planning & Costing: Conduct time studies for core production and update BOMs to ensure proper material planning.
• Functional Testing: Develop procedures for dielectric, insulation, and performance tests and ensure unit compliance before shipping.
• CAPEX & Growth: Justify CAPEX with ROI analysis and specifications for exec approval.
• Performance Reporting: Track OTD, FPY, and Scrap Costs for senior management.
• Optimize transformer assembly processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Develop, maintain, and update SOPs and work instructions.
• Risk Mitigation: Create PFMEA and Quality Control Plans to reduce scrap and waste.
• NPI Support: Assist introduction of new products to production lines.
• Train operators on new processes and equipment.
• Collaborate with QA to ensure standards compliance.
