Description

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Senior Process or Mechanical Engineer to enhance our capabilities in the Specialty Chemical and Consumer Products sectors. This role involves designing chemically based production systems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive project solutions. As an employee owner (EO), you will support clients from project conception through execution, ensuring results that meet their needs and exceed expectations.

The ideal candidate will lead mechanical design projects, from conceptualization to completion, for processes related to specialty chemicals and consumer products. Responsibilities include creating mass balances, PFDs, P&IDs, assembly drawings, and bid packages; preparing process specifications; reviewing vendor drawings; and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety policies. You will also mentor team members, contribute to business development, and maintain client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program, with 7+ years of process engineering experience. EPC experience preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with 6+ years of experience, or a Bachelor’s with successful FE exam completion and 7+ years of experience.
  • Expertise in process design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE), process simulation software (Hysys, Aspen, HTRI), and strong communication skills.
  • PE license preferred; ability to travel required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with mass and heat balances, PFDs, P&IDs, piping stress analysis, reactor/vessel design, and continuous processing systems.
