CHEMICAL & INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING is seeking a Process Engineering Subject Matter Expert in Virginia to lead technical efforts across multiple facilities handling soybean processing and solvent extraction. The role combines engineering leadership with hands-on optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 10+ years in relevant industries, with a strong background in process safety and industrial systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of process engineering experience within soybean processing, oilseed extraction, edible oils, or similar continuous manufacturing environments.
• Experience with process optimization, project development, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of process safety, plant operations, and industrial systems.
• PE, PMP, or similar certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for soybean processing and solvent extraction operations.
• Lead troubleshooting, debottlenecking, and process optimization efforts.
• Support safety, quality, yield, throughput, and cost improvement initiatives.
• Develop project scopes, equipment specifications, and engineering design requirements.
• Support capital projects, startups, commissioning, and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain engineering documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, and process standards.
• Coach plant teams on process engineering best practices and operational excellence.
