Job description

SUMMARY:


The Senior Process Engineer - Monomers will be responsible for four key areas: 1. Monitoring/measuring and reporting monomer operations performance versus design conditions; 2. Troubleshooting performance and quality issues on monomer assets; 3. Providing technical review and support for optimization/debottlenecking projects of existing North American monomer assets; and 4. Leading process design team for new monomer assets in North America. The role will also assist in developing training materials for monomer assets for newly hired or transferred technical and operations personnel for North American monomer production sites.


LOCATION:Georgia, Louisiana, or Mississippi.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Create, monitor, and report meaningful metrics to uncover areas for improvement to measure and help determine project priorities for North American monomer production facilities.

  • Track the impact of process changes, especially with respect to cost, throughput, product quality, and ESG impact.

  • Propose and evaluate Lean, Kaizen, and problem-solving methods for monomer production units.

  • Mentor and provide production and technical personnel feedback on operational monomer process improvements.

  • Lead development of in-house training material and case studies for all significant monomer production technologies across US production sites.

  • Train production engineers and front-line supervisors on key process operations used in SNF monomer production sites.

  • Work with research and development (R&D) personnel on process technology development and transfer from lab scale to production plant.


DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Assist in the development of technical / engineering job performance standards.

  • Support succession planning process for production engineering positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.

  • 20 - 25 years of chemical process experience, preferably with at least 15 years with PSM-covered processes.

  • Experience working with process technology development and commercialization, teams, and green and brownfield plant commissioning.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, PSM, DHS, and DOT regulations related to producing, storing, and transporting hazardous chemicals.

  • Ability to interface with production and R&D management in North America.

  • Strong analytical and computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office suite and statistical programs such as Minitab.

  • Effective written and verbal skills. Complex problem-solving skills and a system thinker.

  • Ability to influence without direct supervision/hierarchical control.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% to all North American monomer production sites quarterly (or more often if major projects or issues occur). Annual trips to Europe may be required.
