Job summary

Port Townsend Paper Company in Port Townsend, WA, seeks a Senior Process Engineer, Technical, to lead process improvements in kraft pulp and paper operations. You will mentor teams, drive DOE/SPC initiatives, and optimize production while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role reports to the Technical Director and Quality Manager and requires 7–10 years in relevant environments, with a strong focus on data-driven problem solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years in kraft pulp and paper manufacturing or closely related industrial process environment.
• Experience leading process improvement projects and supporting mill-wide technical efforts.
• Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and present technical data to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of DOE, SPC, and process optimization methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to operations, maintenance, and technical teams to identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements.
• Lead and support complex optimization initiatives including DOE, SPC, and data analytics.
• Develop and sustain technical training programs for operators and laboratory personnel.
• Lead RCA investigations and ensure effective corrective actions.
• Oversee process changes, chemical additive evaluations, and mill trials from planning through post-trial analysis.
• Interface with customers, vendors, and corporate resources as needed.
