Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Drive standardization and Process Management using scientific methods and Six Sigma to define alloy and core removal processes, develop reaction plans, and reduce cost.
  • Close the communication loop between rework, scrap, and engineering to drive resolution and reduce cost.
  • Ensure development and implementation of new materials and finishing techniques rooted in Six Sigma to meet testing and equipment requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to Alloy and Core Removal MSAT per BU Manual and to customer and NADCAP requirements.
  • Act as a conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure methods, materials, and equipment meet BU and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate projects and resources with new vendors and customers; write capital requests and manage costs for post-cast projects.

Responsibilities

This position will be located in our Plant 3, Whitehall Casting Operation. This is a leadership position in that the person filling will function as a leader in our business through effective mentoring of not just our process engineering resources, but also product engineering resources, manufacturing resources (e.g. operators, supervisors), and quality / process owner resources.

This position will be expected to support manufacturing through process control & improvement initiatives, flow improvement initiatives, capacity gain initiatives. This same position will have direct part‑specific responsibility in addition to responsibility to improve processes and systems that will impact AHWC wholistically.

This position is responsible for developing robust processes that consistently meet or exceed our customers' requirements for the metallurgical quality and performance of aerospace components. Also, continuous improvement of processes by improving methods and developing new methods of manufacturing, leading to increased yields and reduced labor content.

Job Responsibilities
  • Drive standardization and Process Management using scientific methods and six sigma tools to define the alloy and core removal process, develop reaction plans, and reduce cost
  • Close the communication loop between rework, scrap, and engineering along with the source of the problem to drive resolution and reduce cost
  • Ensure development and implementation of new materials and finishing techniques are rooted in six sigma methodology to meet the testing and equipment requirements per BU Manuals
  • Assure meeting of the Alloy and Core Removal process MSAT per the BU Manual
  • Assure compliance to Customer and NADCAP requirements in the Alloy and Core Removal areas
  • Act as a conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing to assure that the Alloy and Core Removal Processes are compliant with the methods, materials, and equipment specifications as required by the BU Manuals, business operating, and customer requirements
  • Coordinate and plan projects and resources with new vendors and customers
  • Write capital requests, purchasing engineering materials, manage cost and control budgets for specific post cast projects and objectives
  • Communicate with other plants on cost savings and scrap reduction projects in Core Removal
  • Update Product Criteria and Activity Instructions as required.
  • Approve all new and revised instructions for the Core Removal Area
  • Coordinate operator training as required
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 7 years of product / process engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Plastics, Chemical, Material, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Black Belt
  • Toolmaking or tool design experience, especially for molding
  • Assembly and automation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver adult training in technical topics
