Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our Scottsdale team. This role supports local clients and virtual teams across locations, leading projects from concept through construction.

The position requires strong skills in process engineering, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications. You will develop and review process deliverables, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and contribute to multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • Active PE licensure or on-track to obtain within 12 months.
  • 10+ years of experience in chemical/process engineering is expected.
  • Experience with chemical plants and industrial settings preferred.
  • Experience with chemical simulation programs such as ChemCAD or Aspen is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering studies, write reports, and perform engineering calculations.
  • Develop PFDs and P&IDs, process calculations, equipment specs, and procurement.
  • Provide engineering oversite and checks on process deliverables.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to complete project tasks.
  • Assist in creating bid packages and procurement.
  • Perform field work to support project responsibilities.

Overview

SSOE is looking for a Senior Process Engineer who would like to be part of our team. This person will support local clients, but also with expectation to virtually support project teams in other locations as well. This individual will work on and lead projects from inception through construction developing PFD's, P&ID's, process calculations, equipment selection and specifications in the early phases of our projects and continue to provide support through construction.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include:

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

  • Leading engineering studies, write reports, develop and complete engineering calculations.
  • Perform or assist with the development of PFDs and P&IDs, process calculations, equipment specifications, and procurement.
  • Provide engineering oversite and checking of process deliverables.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering and design teams to complete necessary project tasks.
  • Assist in the creation of bid packages.
  • Perform field work to support the above responsibilities.
Qualifications

Qualifications You'll Need on Day One:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice.
  • Active professional registration (PE) or on-track to acquire PE license within 12 months of hire date.
  • 10+ years of working experience required.
  • Exposure to chemical plants and other related industrial settings strongly preferred.
  • Experience with a chemical simulation program, such as ChemCAD or Aspen.
  • Experience using Pipe Flo or AFT Fathom a plus.
  • Ability to work in a client-facing role while partnering with contractors and vendors.
  • Experience with building codes and chemical storage requirements.
  • Experience with utility system equipment and distribution systems.
  • Experience with industrial wastewater treatment a plus.
  • Salary Range: $120,000-$130,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
