Job summary

Therma is seeking a Senior Process Design Engineer in San Jose, on-site, to lead the design-build process for mechanical, electrical, piping, structural, and controls. You will mentor engineers, engage with clients, and ensure high-quality solutions across multiple projects.

The role requires 8+ years in process piping design, P&IDs, and proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam. California PE is a plus; base salary and benefits reflect senior responsibilities.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent engineering field.
• Minimum 8 years of engineering experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably with process equipment design and fabrication.
• Developing and interpreting P&IDs.
• Proficiency with professional drawing packages (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam).
• Document Technical Review & Quality Control.
• Project cost estimation and budgetary management.
• Expertise in Project Coordination and Project Management.
• Experience in client relations and relationship management.
• Engineering Team Development, Mentoring, and Leadership.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California would be a plus.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, process automation and controls systems.

Responsibilities

• Process mechanical and piping system designs.
• Practical knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and energy load calculations.
• Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to improve product quality, efficiency and performance.
• Oversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and budget adherence.
• Develop cost estimates for new projects and oversee project budgets.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to develop innovative process designs.
• Generate, review and approve drawings, submittals, and specifications for project goals.
• Evaluate submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs for conformance.
• Research customer requirements, analyze data for feasibility and maintenance needs.
• Oversee FAT documentation and support SAT and TOP deliveries.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve problems and optimize outcomes.
• Stay updated on industry trends in mechanical engineering and energy-efficient building solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the team.
