Job summary

The Senior Process Design Engineer will report directly to the Americas North Design Engineering Lead. The successful candidate will be located at either the Grace Headquarters in Columbia, Maryland or in the Great Lakes Region.

The role requires extensive process design experience, leadership of capital projects, and collaboration across Process Technology, Business Units, and Operations. Travel up to 25% may be involved, including international assignments.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree.
• 10+ years’ experience in chemical, petrochemical, specialty chemical, refining, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing industries.
• Experience in process design and process engineering work in the chemical industry.
• Proven ability to execute front end design for capital projects.
• Experience with overseeing Chemical Industry Contractor’s deliverables.
• Up to 25% of travel including international may be required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and approves process design changes and specifications.
• Develops in collaboration with Process Technology, Business Units and Operations and assures adherence to a standard Basis of Design (BOD) package which includes Scope of Work, PFDs, P&ID’s and material balance.
• Develops front end packages.
• Developing equipment and services bid documentation and reviewing vendor quotations and issues procurement recommendations.
• Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Evaluating EH&S design requirements and ensuring adherence to corporate policies.
• Participates as engineering representative in PHA’s (Process Hazard Analysis) and HAZOP’s.
• Supports start up activities from a process engineering perspective.
• Prioritizing workloads and effectively managing 3rd party engineering teams to execute assigned workloads.
• Firm understanding and compliance with the Grace Project Methodology (GPM) process.
