Job summary

Sila is recruiting for a senior role in process controls and instrumentation design. You will execute controls for production-scale synthesis, ensure P&ID conformance, and contribute to safety reviews and documentation.

You will collaborate with vendors and internal teams, bring online hardware and code, and leverage your 5+ years of experience and engineering background to deliver reliable, well-documented systems.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in control system design principles including PID control and cascade control.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles and devices and industrial communication protocols.
• Experience with the full design lifecycle of process control systems and safety documentation.
• Hands-on experience with PLCs and IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience designing HMIs for real-time monitoring and control.
• Experience ensuring regulatory compliance related to process controls standards (NFPA, UL508A, IEC 61151).
• 5+ years of industry experience; a B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute process controls and instrumentation designs for production-scale synthesis equipment.
• Implement control system strategies and ensure designs are reflected in P&IDs according to standards.
• Create and maintain design documentation—instrument indexes, I/O lists, alarm lists, and more; participate in HAZOP reviews.
• Engage with outside vendors for process controls and subsystems.
• Participate in safety reviews to ensure safe process design and close controls recommendations.
• Assist in bringing online hardware and code.
• Gather end-user feedback and implement actionable modifications with the team.
