Job summary

Exelixis is seeking a Senior Scientist II in Process Chemistry in Alameda, CA, to lead scale-up and development of small-molecule drug substances. You will evaluate routes, develop phase-appropriate processes, and support CDMO transfers and regulatory filings.

The role requires advanced degrees with 7–9+ years in biotech/pharma, strong analytical and writing skills, and ability to work cross-functionally. A comprehensive benefits package and discretionary bonus are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field, with at least 9 years of experience in biotech/pharma.
• Master's degree with at least 7 years of experience in biotech/pharma.
• PhD with at least 2 years of experience in biotech/pharma.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate synthetic routes and test alternatives for scale-up of drug substances and intermediates.
• Develop safe, phase-appropriate processes in-house or at CDMOs.
• Characterize process impurities and establish impurity control strategies.
• Support scale-up and manufacturing to supply drug substances for preclinical and clinical studies.
