Job summary

Westlake Chemical invites an experienced automation leader to head the Lake Charles PE&O automation group, ensuring reliable operation of plant processes and communications systems.

You will supervise process automation personnel, manage capital upgrade plans, and drive SIS compliance with IEC 61511/ISA 84 while advancing digitalization, data analytics, and Industry 4.0 initiatives to improve asset reliability and business performance.

Qualifications

• TWIC card required.
• Bachelor degree in Engineering strongly preferred.
• 10+ years in industrial automation.
• CFSE certification preferred.
• Project management skills: organizing, tracking, reporting, record keeping.
• Familiarity with NFPA and API Standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assigns work to process automation personnel.
• Oversees training of process automation personnel and evaluates proficiencies.
• Sets performance/developmental goals and conducts performance reviews for automation personnel.
• Oversees development of capital upgrade/improvement plans for automation and safety instrumented systems hardware/software.
• Ensures SIS program compliance with IEC 61511/ISA 84 and Westlake policies while supporting reliability and lifecycle management.
• Coordinates and ensures compliance with IEC 62443/NIST 82 and Westlake security policy.
• Coordinates resources to deliver tasks on time and on budget.
• Coordinates coverage during startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, and other events to ensure reliability.
• Drives digitalization strategy with data analytics, AI, Industry 4.0 to improve asset performance.
• Prepares annual expense budget information for IE&C Manager.
• Maintains procedures in automation systems environment to improve processes.
• Builds relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
• Researches industry initiatives to apply to the facility.
• Attracts and develops technical resources; mentors team members.
• Provides monthly SIS KPI reports to PSM.
