Job summary

State of Missouri in Missouri is seeking a Probation and Parole Assistant/Correctional Officer to lead facility staff, supervise offenders in housing units, and assist with counts, data entry, and coordination with Parole Officers. Qualifications

• One or more years of experience as a Probation and Parole Assistant or Correctional Officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections; AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency; AND a valid vehicle operator's license.
• Three or more years of work experience; AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency; AND a valid vehicle operator's license.
• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year

Responsibilities

• Serves as a lead worker of the facility; assigns/trains/evaluates staff supervising offenders in housing units and related activities.
• Participates in periodic counts of offenders; inspects housing units for safety and security violations; prepares reports; maintains records on offender violations/behaviors etc.
• Retrieves information from NCIC, MULES, and other databases; responds to confirmed active warrants; participates in classification/treatment/supervision of offenders; communicates with Parole Officers and administration regarding referrals and supervision strategies.
