The Role

We are seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join our finance team. This individual will take ownership of internal and external financial reporting and accounting across our real estate investment funds and corporate entities. The ideal candidate is sharp, experienced, and highly skilled at managing complex cost structures with transparent, defensible, and investor aligned reasoning. Exceptional at maintaining highest audit-ready standards and accounting practices. You should be confident interfacing with auditors, tax professionals, senior management, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and financial reporting for real estate investment funds and related corporate entities.
• Oversee and execute investor capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, and waterfall/promote allocations.
• Manage monthly and quarterly closes, including NAV calculations, bank reconciliations, and general ledger reviews.
• Implement and justify cost allocations and intercompany transfers with audit-proof rigor.
• Maintain and improve billing structures to ensure they are equitable, logical, and defensible under audit.
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and ensure compliance with partnership agreements and tax structuring.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax return filings with external audit and tax teams.
• Serve as the point of contact for financial institutions, third-party administrators, and internal leadership.
• Work closely with asset management and operations to ensure transaction-level accounting is aligned with fund objectives.
• Support ad hoc projects, such as system implementations, investor reporting enhancements, and regulatory filings.
  
  

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
• 5–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in real estate fund accounting.
• Deep understanding of real estate partnership structures, waterfall models, and fund/corporate intercompany activity.
• Mastery in billing methodologies, cost allocations, and audit trail documentation.
• Prior experience working with auditors and tax preparers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with confidence presenting to senior leadership.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Yardi, Juniper Square, Investran, MRI, Agora, or other real estate or fund accounting systems.
• Exposure to private equity real estate transactions (acquisitions, refinances, dispositions).
• Prior work with vertically integrated firms (property management, development, asset management, etc.).
