Job summary

Imprivata is seeking a Senior Privacy Engineer to design and implement privacy controls across its products and enterprise systems. This hands-on role partners with Engineering, Product, Security, and Legal to embed privacy by design throughout the software lifecycle and translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in software/security/privacy engineering, strong programming in Python/Java/Go/JS-TS, and experience with cloud environments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of software, security, or privacy engineering experience, including at least 4 years focused on privacy engineering or data protection.
• Strong programming experience in Python, Java, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript with cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience implementing privacy by design, privacy automation, and technical privacy controls in modern software practices.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and related privacy standards.
• IAPP/CDPSE/CIPT/CIPM certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement privacy controls across products and services.
• Embed privacy by design into the SDLC with architecture reviews and threat modeling.
• Build and maintain privacy automation for consent, data subject rights, and data de-identification.
• Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and maintain data flow maps and inventories.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, Legal, and Compliance to translate regulations into tech requirements.
• Develop privacy-focused solutions including encryption, access controls, and audit logging.
• Evaluate and implement privacy engineering tools and emerging best practices.
• Support AI governance by assessing privacy risks in AI/ML systems.
• Create reusable privacy standards, libraries, and training for engineering teams.
