Job summary

Asana is seeking a Senior Privacy Engineer to embed privacy into product development from the ground up. You will lead privacy-by-design reviews and coordinate with legal, policy, and engineering teams to implement robust controls and compliant data practices.

You will translate complex regulatory requirements into concrete engineering specs, assess privacy risks in AI/ML pipelines, and help shape privacy posture across the company.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in privacy or data protection.
• Deep understanding of GDPR, CCPA and global privacy frameworks.
• Experience building technical controls for data governance at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead privacy-by-design reviews for features and architecture.
• Translate legal requirements into engineering standards and tooling.
• Evaluate privacy risks in AI/ML systems and data pipelines.
• Build systems enabling data rights and PETs while protecting privacy.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments and threat modeling for high-risk processing.
• Advocate for privacy-preserving solutions across the business.
• Collaborate with legal, policy, and non-technical teams on notices and policies.
• Develop customer-facing privacy documentation and incident response support.
• Design privacy-preserving analytics with user privacy in mind.
