Position Summary: The Advanced EOIR team is looking for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to serve as deputy technical lead for technical concepts and algorithm development related to advanced electro‑optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensing. The role is 100% on‑site in Linthicum, MD.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of R&D programs in coordination with the algorithm architect.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
• Develop, integrate, test, and deploy novel EOIR‑centric algorithms.
• Develop and quantify performance metrics for system performance.
• Understand data quality and artifact impacts.
• Represent system performance in functional and analytical models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience; master’s degree with 6 years; Ph.D. with 4 years in STEM fields, or equivalent experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Current or active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
• Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Experience leading junior and/or peer team members.
• Experience in technical computing languages such as Python or MATLAB.
• Experience with airborne and/or space‑based EOIR sensors.
• Knowledge of physics‑based detection methods for various phenomenologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in STEM.
• Experience writing technical proposals.
• Experience acting as principal investigator or team lead for R&D programs.
• Experience developing and executing internal research and development projects.
• Current Top Secret clearance, SAP, or SCI access.
• Strong communication skills for internal and external audiences.

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 – $203,600.00.
