Job description

$160,000 – $300,000+ Base Salary + Equity

USA - role is on-site but can be based in New York, Colorado or California

I am currently working with rapidly growing space technology companies building next-generation satellite platforms, space domain awareness capabilities, and advanced mission systems.

We are seeking talented Systems Engineers across Senior, Principal, and Lead levels to support the design, integration, and delivery of complex space missions spanning spacecraft platforms, payloads, flight software, ground systems, and mission operations.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of spacecraft engineering, mission architecture, systems integration, and operational execution, helping deliver innovative capabilities for commercial and national security customers.

The Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will serve as a key technical integrator across multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring spacecraft and mission systems are designed, verified, and delivered successfully.

You will work across the full mission lifecycle from early architecture and requirements development through integration, testing, launch preparation, and on-orbit operations.

Depending on experience level, you may lead technical areas, own mission architectures, drive engineering processes, mentor teams, and influence the future direction of space platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage spacecraft and mission system architectures
  • Define system requirements, interfaces, verification plans, and technical documentation
  • Lead system integration across spacecraft hardware, payloads, avionics, flight software, communications, GNC, and ground systems
  • Perform mission analysis, trade studies, and technical risk assessments
  • Support spacecraft integration, qualification, verification, and operational readiness activities
  • Develop mission concepts, operational scenarios, and ConOps documentation
  • Coordinate technical interfaces across internal engineering teams, suppliers, and customers
  • Support anomaly resolution, system performance analysis, and mission operations
  • Drive MBSE, requirements management, and systems engineering best practices
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, spacecraft engineering, mission engineering, or related aerospace disciplines
  • Experience working with complex multidisciplinary technical systems
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft subsystems, mission architecture, and system-level integration
  • Experience developing requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), verification strategies, and technical reviews
  • Ability to analyse complex engineering problems and communicate solutions across teams
  • 8–10+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience preferred
  • Experience owning major spacecraft or mission-level technical areas
  • Proven ability to lead technical decisions and influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience with system architecture, AI&T, verification campaigns, and mission readiness activities
  • Ability to mentor engineers and establish scalable engineering processes
  • Spacecraft platforms, CubeSat, SmallSat, hosted payloads, or satellite constellations
  • Space Domain Awareness (SDA), remote sensing, Earth observation, or national security missions
  • Mission operations, launch campaigns, and on-orbit support
  • Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) systems and spacecraft dynamics
  • Communications systems, RF architectures, and link budgets
  • Ground segment development and operational concepts
  • STK, GMAT, FreeFlyer, or other mission analysis tools
