Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Infrastructure Delivery

Location: Hybrid in our Seattle office is ideal but will also consider Austin or Nashville.

As a member of the OCI Infrastructure Delivery Engineering team, you will take an active leadership role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures for the canonical Inventory Management solution for all of OCI's global data centers. You will define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems and will be tasked with providing leadership and expertise in the development of new products, services, and processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommending and justifying major changes to existing products/services/processes will be a key aspect of this role. A qualified candidate will have a BS or MS degree, with 10 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will be working closely with software engineers from the various cloud service teams to build secure services and infrastructure that are fundamentally sound and efficient. Your influence over the design of the full system architecture is critical. You should be familiar with all levels of the software, hardware, and network stack; while having a deep knowledge in a few. Intellectual curiosity and an excitement for solving complex problems of complex systems is a must. You should value simplicity and usability as well as security and work comfortably in a collaborative, high-paced, agile environment.

A successful candidate will have a combination of the following:

  • 10+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Java and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals
  • Advanced knowledge of Terraform is a big plus
  • BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 - $251,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  • Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
