Position: Senior Principal Software Engineer, Backend

Location: US-based, remote or New York City office

Salary Range: $180,000 - $262,000 per year (actual pay based on skills and experience)

Additional Compensation: Annual Bonus and RSUs

About the Role

As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will be part of our product engineering team, working on our alerting platform that processes hundreds of thousands of data points per second. You will architect and deliver features for a large-scale, globally distributed platform, contributing code from day one and designing significant features impacting multiple microservices.

Responsibilities

1. Influence architecture to deliver critical data faster and more reliably.
2. Implement industry best practices and innovative patterns.
3. Contribute code to production systems.
4. Design features affecting multiple services.
5. Collaborate on customer applications supporting emerging use cases.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building backend services and applications.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems, microservices, and real-time streaming data.
• Strong object-oriented design, API design, data modeling, and coding skills.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Proven experience in engineering best practices and mentorship.
