Job summary

CSL Seqirus in Waltham, MA, is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead the Research Virology and Immunology (RVI) team. The role combines scientific leadership with hands-on lab work to advance seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccines, support existing products, and evaluate new opportunities.

You will mentor scientists, develop assay platforms, and translate complex data into actionable recommendations for vaccine development while collaborating across cross-functional teams and partners.

Qualifications

• PhD in Virology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences with ≥5 years postdoc/professional experience.
• Strong expertise in classical and molecular virology, including quantitative cell-based assays.
• Experience with infectious-virus culture and titration, neutralization assays, molecular virology techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead vaccine research programs as virology SME; translate priorities into strategies, milestones, and deliverables.
• Design, develop, and optimize virological and immunological assays for vaccine research and product development.
• Design and interpret preclinical immunogenicity and protection studies using relevant animal models in collaboration with in vivo experts.
