Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Clearfield, Utah, seeks a Sr. Principal Facilities Electrical Engineer to design power, controls, and instrumentation per NEC, including hazardous locations. You will provide cost estimates, troubleshoot electrical equipment, and develop maintenance guidelines for industrial systems.

The role requires a BS in Engineering (Electrical/Automation) and 8+ years of experience (6+ years with a Master's). Strong CAD skills and PLC expertise are essential; U.S.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering with emphasis in electrical/automation.
  • 8 years minimum or 6 with a Master's degree in industrial facility electrical design experience.
  • Industrial power and control design experience.
  • PLC systems and design experience.
  • AutoCAD drafting ability.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security Clearance
  • Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and in congested areas.

Responsibilities

  • Designs power, controls, and process instrumentation per the NEC, including hazardous classified locations.
  • Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
  • Troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment.
  • Develop electrical maintenance guidelines for industrial equipment.
  • Integrate and specify electrical equipment for robotics, PLCs, servo drives, instrumentation and HVAC equipment.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to control a variety of processes; Allen-Bradley PLC and Rockwell Software experience preferred.
  • Develop electrical schematics that are logical, well-organized, and require little to no redlines
  • Design panels layouts that minimize space and comply with manufacturer specs
  • Design, specify, and program variable frequency drives (VFD) for motor control applications
  • CNC machine knowledge and specifying
  • Work with maintenance craftsmen to troubleshoot
  • Project management and cost estimating
  • Provide Detailed Project Designs in AutoCAD drawing format
