Job summary

Capital One in McLean, VA and Illinois is seeking a Senior Principal Payment Tech Development Manager to lead a high-performing engineering organization responsible for end-to-end design, development, testing, certification, and delivery of card and wallet payment technologies.

You will drive architecture, security requirements, and validation readiness, while influencing executive stakeholders and scalable engineering practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 6+ years of payment technology R&D experience.
• 4+ years partnering with internal or external business clients.
• 4+ years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and scale an engineering and validation organization to support evolving payment technology roadmaps.
• Lead design, development, testing, certification, and delivery of card/contact/contactless, mobile, and cloud-based payments.
• Serve as primary liaison to executives and cross-functional teams, translating complex technical roadmaps into business outcomes.
• Define and oversee testing, validation, and compliance programs across global operations.
• Manage vendor and partner relationships, SLAs, and governance to ensure quality and timely deliverables.
• Proactively identify risks and escalations, and drive mitigation strategies at the executive level.
