Job summary

Dell Technologies is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Architect to define mechanical and thermal requirements for next-generation notebooks, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and drive robust, cost-effective designs.

You will lead CAD modeling, analyze test data, guide suppliers, and ensure milestones are met while balancing quality, acoustics, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience.
• Ability to assess and optimize the tradeoffs between thermal, mechanical, and electrical features.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, documentation, and validation of mechanical components, assemblies and assigned product platforms
• Develop and test mechanical prototypes, conducting analysis, debugging, and engineering validation to ensure product performance and reliability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with suppliers and teams including electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, marketing, and industrial design to support successful product development
• Apply advanced engineering tools and methodologies to create innovative solutions for complex mechanical design challenges
• Manage mechanical tooling, qualification processes, and product deliverables, ensuring program milestones, schedules, and quality requirements are achieved
