Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Senior/Principal R&D Materials Scientist focused on Analytical and Tritium Sciences. The role centers on electrical breakdown and structure-property relationships in metals, ceramics, and polymers, with hands-on materials characterization and test plan development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with five years of direct experience or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
• Graduate degree in Materials Science or related field is preferred.
• Experience with materials characterization techniques and R&D environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to projects on electrical breakdown of materials and related structure-property studies.
• Prepare test samples, characterize ceramics, polymers, and metals using in-house techniques.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings to customers.
• Develop new materials concepts and join of metals for specified properties.
