Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Plymouth, MN, is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to provide manufacturing and process-engineering expertise for electromechanical fuzes across propulsion programs.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years' related experience, or MS with 6+ years, or PhD with 4 years.
• Experience communicating with customers, program management, and engineering management.
• Technical understanding of mechanical/electromechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and metal fabrication.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) and automation for new product development and existing products.
• Leverage robotics, torque tools, vision/inspection systems, and data analytics to release high-quality, cost-effective products quickly.
• Design production solutions including automation cells, fixtures, and test stations.
• Develop plans to support increased production volumes: capacity analysis, line balancing, ramp-up strategies.
• On-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades for automation cells and equipment.
