Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has openings for Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineers to join our team supporting our Production Engineering and Operations (PE&O) organization. The position requires on-site support in St Augustine, FL or Melbourne, FL, and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.

The selected candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Manufacturing Engineering Team, working in a collaborative environment while promoting positive teamwork.

Manufacturing Engineering job duties involve the following:
  1. Provide guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts to ensure the best manufacturing technique is being used to meet the Engineering design.
  2. Participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during assembly.
  3. Identify manufacturing processes and specialty tooling requirements to improve efficiency, quality, and ergonomics in production operations.
  4. Research, develop, and provide process training as required.
  5. Define sequence of operations for product builds, investigate and initiate corrective actions and improvements involving non-conforming product, and identify opportunities for producibility and affordability improvements.
  6. Provide liaison support for Engineering to influence low production costs for integrated assembly related to electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids, and propulsion systems.
  7. Support site safety initiatives related to manufacturing processes.
  8. Interface and communicate with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors.

Manufacturing Engineers in Aeronautics Systems are expected to provide technical solutions to complex problems, acting as problem solvers with innovative, practical, and organization-aligned results. They should have a hands-on approach and serve as the technical voice for Manufacturing.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of related engineering experience (electrical, mechanical, coatings, production manufacturing) OR Master’s Degree with 6 years of experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work any shift or extended work week as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a final adjudicated government Secret clearance.
  • Physical ability to perform job functions, including traversing manufacturing environments, working at a computer for extended periods, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • STEM Degree (Science, Technical, Engineering, or Mathematical).
  • Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, blueprint interpretation, and process knowledge.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma, GD&T, ERP Systems, MES, SAP, and innovative manufacturing techniques.

Salary Range: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00

This range is a guideline; actual offers depend on various factors including experience, education, and skills. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differentials, and bonuses.
