Walgreens is seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our technology organization in Deerfield, Illinois. This is a hands-on full-stack engineering role with a strong emphasis on backend development and enterprise Java applications.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience building complex online applications, microservices or mobile apps.
• Strong background in algorithms, systems architecture, and automation.
• Experience with technical documentation and executive-level engagement.
• Proven cross-functional leadership and collaboration with product and IT partners.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex full-stack enterprise apps with a Java backend.
• Lead technical design for scalable, reliable software solutions.
• Develop backend services, APIs, and business logic using Java and enterprise tech.
• Build frontend apps with Angular and/or React and optimize for performance.
• Work with Oracle databases, including SQL and data access considerations.
• Provide technical leadership across the SDLC, including reviews and production support.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote sound engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Translate complex topics into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering standards and architecture.
