Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking Principal or Senior Principal Industrial Engineer to join the Mission Systems Sector in Rolling Meadows, IL. The role focuses on data-driven analyses to support the Facility Governance Model and shape the sector's manufacturing and infrastructure strategy.

Responsibilities include developing layouts and capacity plans, collaborating with Manufacturing, Facilities/Real Estate, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to optimize space, cost, and flexibility while driving

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience; 3+ years with a Master’s; 1+ year with a PhD.
• Experience with facility layout, capacity planning, space utilization, and production flow optimization.
• Experience using CAD / space planning tools, with strong data analysis skills (Excel, BI).
• US citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret clearance with SAP access.

Responsibilities

• Perform industrial engineering and space planning analyses, including facility recommendations, capacity models, space utilization studies, and supporting analytics that inform the Facility Governance Model.
• Develop and maintain tools, models, and documentation for facility roadmaps, historical databases, and standard work.
• Use historical actuals, capacity and throughput data, space utilization trends, manpower data, and schedule assumptions to create scenario-based layouts and capital investment recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop credible, executable facility options aligned to sector strategy.
• Apply industrial engineering methods (capacity studies, value stream mapping, layout & simulation) to improve production flow and space utilization.
