Lila Sciences seeks a dynamic and experienced Team Lead and Senior Principal Automation Engineer to lead the design and deployment of innovative automation systems that bridge life sciences, material sciences, and industrial automation. Your leadership will drive cutting-edge automation in laboratories and expand into physical sciences, supporting applications like drug discovery, bioengineering, and advanced material characterization.

What You'll Be Building

• Life Science Lab Automation: Provide technical leadership, design integrated automation solutions, implement error recovery protocols, and oversee development of custom hardware.
• Material and Physical Science Applications: Develop automation solutions, lead cross-functional collaborations, and innovate in custom hardware development.
• System Design & Development: Architect and oversee automated systems, design workflows, and develop hardware/software standards.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor automation engineers, fostering innovation and collaboration.
• Strategic Planning: Develop roadmaps, lead technology selection for large-scale deployments.
• Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Enhance workflows, implement IoT-enabled systems for real-time data monitoring.
• Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Represent technical leadership in stakeholder and vendor interactions.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, or related fields. Certifications in automation or industrial engineering are advantageous.
• Principal-level expertise in Python and automation programming, with experience in modern frameworks and device integration.
• Proven track record with large-scale automation deployments and hardware integration.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (C#, JavaScript, Visual Basic).
• Experience managing engineering teams and designing scalable solutions.
• Knowledge of IoT, safety standards, and data platforms.
