Job summary

Autodesk is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Platform Services Team in San Francisco to lead the design and delivery of exabyte-scale, high-availability cloud data processing. You will own end-to-end software development, drive streaming pipelines, and mentor engineers across multiple teams.

You will collaborate with product managers and architects to evolve architecture, champion scalable, secure solutions, and accelerate delivery in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 9+ years of hands-on software design and development for cloud-based services.
• Proven track record leading fast-paced engineering teams to deliver high-impact results.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java with extensive development experience.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services (S3, Lambda, SQS/SNS, Aurora, DynamoDB).
• Experience building high-performance, scalable applications with caching (Redis, MemoryDB).
• Hands-on experience with data streaming systems (Apache Kafka) and streaming pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of software development for high-traffic cloud services.
• Drive team-level outcomes and initiatives across functions.
• Architect and implement real-time data streaming pipelines to ensure low latency and fault tolerance.
• Provide technical mentorship and remove obstacles for the Scrum team.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and stakeholders to convert requirements into incremental product enhancements.
• Lead incident response and drive root-cause analysis with preventive actions.
• Shape software design and architecture using cloud expertise throughout the lifecycle.
