Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Electrical Design Engineer in Melbourne, FL. The role focuses on lab design, integration, and systems engineering for lab environments.

Qualifications

Job Title and Location

Senior Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Melbourne, FL.

This role provides lab design, integration, and systems engineering support for system and software engineering labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops system architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements.
  • Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces.
  • Defines system implementation approach and operational concept.
  • Ensures requirements are met and evaluates performance with customers.
  • Develops thorough definition of system requirements and requirement verifications.
  • Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of related disciplines; communicates effectively and presents technical approaches and findings clearly.
  • Problem Solving: Develop technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity.
  • Discretion/Latitude: Work is performed without appreciable direction; exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
  • Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role; erroneous decisions would typically result in failure to achieve major objectives.
  • Liaison: Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects; interacts with senior external personnel on technical matters requiring coordination between organizations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience, or Master of Science in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience, or STEM Ph.D. and 4 years of related experience.
  • Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any required program access within a reasonable period of time.
  • Experience with electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and/or systems for commercial, industrial, and/or domestic purposes.
  • Experience in electrical wiring design and troubleshooting system installations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AutoCAD Electrical Design experience.
  • NX Capital experience.
  • Manufacturing/liaison support experience to support build and installation of assemblies and testing of aircraft systems.
  • Experience in developing and managing test requirements.
  • Experience in subsystem, payload, or system integration.
  • Knowledge of aircraft-type cable assemblies, MIL type wiring, and components such as MIL connectors, back shells, relays, switches, indicator lights, and terminal junction system components.
Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00. Base salary determined by scope, responsibilities, and candidate experience.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and for VP/Director-level positions, long-term incentives.
