Job summary

Roche in the United States is seeking a Senior Principal DSX Data Scientist within the Data Science Acceleration (DSX) team to drive scalable tools and workflows for fast, high-quality statistical computing across Product Development Data Sciences (PDD).

The role leads cross-functional initiatives, guides architecture and standards, and serves as a senior technical advisor on infrastructure and automation across Roche’s development portfolio.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 8+ years of experience in data science, statistical computing, or platform development with impact at organizational or cross-functional levels.
• Recognized expert in building and scaling scientific or statistical software systems in clinical research environments.
• Expertise in Python and R with reproducible, compliant, high-performance computing practices.
• Leadership of major programs or cross-functional initiatives with technical complexity and strategic significance.
• Independent thinking and principled decision making.
• Strong strategic agility, problem solving, and cross-cultural collaboration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading global, cross-functional projects across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership in Roche’s next-generation statistical computing platforms.
• Anticipate industry trends and translate them into data science capabilities and standards.
• Lead large-scale cross-functional initiatives redefining data processing, visualization, and interpretation.
• Serve as senior technical advisor to governance teams on infrastructure, automation, and computing topics.
• Guide architectural decisions and resource planning for tooling and infrastructure projects across DSX.
• Resolve complex system-level challenges with deep scientific computing expertise.
• Influence internal policy and adoption of best practices across teams and geographies.
• Communicate complex ideas clearly to senior stakeholders and shape investments and tooling strategy.
• Foster technical excellence and knowledge sharing through mentorship and community building.
