Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Data Scientist in Roy, UT to lead delivery and sustainment of data pipelines and data products for a specific domain. You will align work with program goals, cross-domain integration patterns, and platform standards while guiding a domain data engineering team.

You will ensure reliability, security, and observability across environments, coordinate with stakeholders, and mentor engineers to raise technical quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 6+ years; or a PhD with 4+ years.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, with SAP approval within a reasonable period of time.
• 3+ years leading technical design and delivery as a technical lead for production data pipelines and data products.
• 3+ years integrating data from multiple enterprise systems of record and working through data-model considerations across domains.
• Demonstrated experience prioritizing build-versus-sustainment work and aligning domain delivery with stakeholders.
• Mentoring engineers and communicating technical decisions, delivery risks, and tradeoffs to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the domain data pipeline and data product roadmap and lead the domain data engineering team.
• Prioritize and sequence the domain backlog in collaboration with stakeholders and leadership.
• Lead solution design for pipelines and data products with focus on shared frameworks and data models.
• Ensure non-functional requirements—reliability, performance, security, observability—meet standards.
• Represent domain needs and risks in cross-domain planning discussions and risk mitigation.
• Provide coaching to domain data engineers and related roles to raise quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and downstream analytics teams to understand needs and communicate status.
• Coordinate with system-of-record owners to align pipelines with evolving data structures.
