Job summary

At Atlassian, we are seeking a Senior Principal Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to advance AI-powered solutions for customers. You will work with product, engineering and design teams to deliver end-to-end deployments and real-world impact.

You’ll lead across the stack, from coding to integrations, mentor seniors, and shape the adoption of AI-driven workflows while navigating risk, privacy, and governance in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of backend software development experience, 5+ in principal/staff roles.
• 5+ years delivering AI/ML solutions in production, including 0-to-1 product experience.
• Deep expertise in applied AI/ML, including generative AI, LLMs, and agent-based frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages, and experience with APIs, microservices, and enterprise integration.

Responsibilities

• Code across Atlassian product suite with broad engineering exposure.
• Lead design and deployment of AI/ML-powered solutions using Rovo tailored to customer needs.
• Architect and implement integrations using APIs and microservices.
• Influence product direction by building with the customers, and realising the last mile papercuts they go through.
• Champion the adoption of AI-augmented workflow automation within customer environments, maximizing business value and operational efficiency.
• Oversee the end-to-end deployment of AI solutions into production, ensuring continuous evaluation, monitoring, and improvement.
